From 15 January to 15 February, enrollment for first school year 2026/27 will take place. Due to changes in school legislation in the Czech Republic, enrollment in the 1st grade of primary school for all children, including Ukrainians, will run from 15 January to 15 February.
School enrollment is mandatory for children who will have reached the age of 6 by the start of the school year (by 31 August 2026).
How to proceed:
Find your catchment school based on your place of residence (spádová škola) using the school district map on the website of the local Department of Education (Odbor školství) or the local authority: https://mapaspadovosti.zapojmevsechny.cz/
If the school sets a separate enrollment date for children with temporary protection or ZDP, this information will be published on the same website. Follow the instructions on the school’s website and attend enrollment on the specified dates.Enrollment in the 1st grade is mandatory even if you will have a deferral of compulsory school attendance for that year.
